Where do I get setting inspiration for the stories I write?
From the places I visit, of course. And I can't say I prefer big cities over small towns because it just depends on my mood or what works for my characters.
Have you ever visited Hermann, Missouri?
It's a quaint town on the bank of the Missouri River that is rich in history. There are historical homes you can tour and a bridge you can cross as you explore by foot. One winery allows you to tour its old wine cellar. I was busy looking for ghosts.
If you're looking for food, the wineries and the brewery offer more than brew and more variety than I can name. There's also an abundance of music under the stars.
And if you're looking to stay, check out the several quaint B&B's. I stayed in the wine cellar room of one comfortable place, very nice.
By the way, did I mention, there's a chocolate shop? And there's a fantastic bakery that inspired Lizzy's Bakery and Brew in my Small Town Series...
